This is the Privacy Statement of the Vereniging Particuliere eigenaren Vakantieverblijven Ameland (hereafter: VPVA). This statement explains how we handle personal data we obtain through or in connection with our website www.ameland-site.co.uk.
General
The website www.ameland-site.co.uk provides information about accommodations on Ameland. These are offered for rent by their individual owners. Where possible, links are provided to the websites of the various accommodations or to pages where any booking is processed. VPVA has no control over, or influence on, the content or policies of those websites. A different privacy policy may therefore apply when you use
those websites. VPVA cannot accept any responsibility for the way in which those parties communicate with you and/or handle your data.
Cooperation
To operate the website, VPVA works with external parties. In the context of this privacy statement, we have made arrangements with them where possible to ensure they handle your data to the same standard we apply ourselves.
Enquiries and bookings
By making a booking or submitting an enquiry, your data is automatically added to our records. We use your data to forward it to our accommodation owners so that they can confirm your booking or respond to your enquiry. Any further communication takes place outside VPVA.
When a booking is finalised and recorded in our website by the accommodation owner, we may invite you after your stay to submit a review of the accommodation. We may then publish that review with the accommodation concerned or elsewhere on the website. In accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act, we will under no circumstances disclose your personal data to anyone other than members of VPVA.
Personal data
The data you provide is necessary for:
- checking whether the accommodation affiliated with us has availability
- calculating the estimated cost
- forwarding the data so that accommodation owners can create a booking for you or respond to an enquiry.
By entering your data, forwarding it and/or accepting our terms, you expressly consent to its processing and to your data being forwarded to our accommodation owners.
Cookies
The website www.ameland-site.co.uk places cookies. Cookies are small text files placed on a PC, tablet or mobile phone by a web page. These cookies are used to help the website function properly and to monitor website visits. This allows VPVA to see how many people have visited the website over a given period. We also use a cookie to remember your favourite properties and to track whether the emails we send you can be opened.
Why cookies

ameland-site.co.uk uses Google Analytics to understand how our website is used. To perform these measurements correctly, your browsing behaviour is recorded anonymously in cookies from this company. VPVA uses these measurements to continuously improve and innovate its website.
On our site you can use Google Maps to get an impression of where an accommodation is located. When you use this feature, Google Maps places cookies to track statistics about the use of Google Maps itself, as well as cookies to store preferences (such as the preferred map view).
Social media cookies are required for liking posts, sharing news articles and updating your status on Facebook. If you are logged in to Facebook while visiting our website, more cookies will be placed than when you are not. Information can only be shared on Facebook if you give explicit consent.
Data security
Your personal data is transmitted over the internet to our information system. VPVA uses recognised security techniques to protect this data and to prevent loss, corruption or theft. You can see this in the padlock that appears in your browser when using the website.
When using your account, you will be asked to choose a password. Always choose a secure password and keep it secret. It is good practice to regularly renew the passwords you use online.
Public information
Information you provide in reviews can be read by other visitors. Please therefore take care not to include personal information in them. VPVA reserves the right to refuse reviews at its own discretion and without giving reasons.
System security
In cooperation with our suppliers, VPVA has taken careful and appropriate measures to secure its systems. This is to prevent unauthorised persons from gaining access to personal information.
Changes
This Privacy Statement may be amended. Any changes will be announced on this page.
Access to personal data
You can request which personal data we have recorded about you. To do so, send an email to secretaris@ameland-site.co.uk. Within 48 hours, the owner of the email address will receive an email containing a link that is valid for a short period (a few hours). This link will then provide an overview of the personal data recorded about you in our system.
Deletion of personal data
If you would like your data removed from our system, you can let us know by sending an email to secretaris@ameland-site.co.uk. We will then delete the data within a reasonable timeframe.
